I grew up on a farm raising and racing Quaterhorses since 1980, we made a swith to the Thoroughbreds in 2000. And through my friends desire to be a part of the action, Run For Fun Stables was born. We have grow quite a bit in our first two years and we are really looking forward to what the 2009 season may bring.
We offer the least expensive partnerships I have ever seen. Check us out.
Additional Key players:
Trainers we are currently using are Elige Bourne, Rod Heggie and Robertino Diadoro
What kinds of horses do you target, for what kinds of races? What are the main goals of your partnerships?
We have been buying a yearling each year at the Alberta yearling sale and targeting the Alberta bred only stakes races but, we also make an occasional claim as well as the odd private purchase.
Our main goal is to have Fun, and try to position our horses where we believe they have the best shot to win for our partners.
How is the managing partner compensated?
No fees are paid to the managing partner. The Manager is a percentage owner of each horse and pays his share the same as all the other partners.
Who authorizes the various expenditures and how are the partners notified and billed?
All expenditures are authorized by the Managing partner and all shareholders are billed quarterly.
When income is recognized from purse money or sales, does this income flow directly to investors or is it maintained in an account to cover future expenses? At what point does the partnership settle up (monthly, quarterly or annually)? Is each partner provided a statement reflecting cash receipts and disbursements? How often?
Members are billed quarterly. Any winnings from each horse are paid out at the end of every meet, this is typically the end of October each year. Members will recieve an annual statment reflecting cash receipts and disbursements.
Are racing and sales decisions made solely at the discretion of the managing partner?
All Racing decisions are voted on as a group one 10% share is equal to one vote.
What sort of services and perks do you offer your partners? Stable Visits? Farm Visits? Help handling the licensing? Anything special you want to mention?
The Managing Partner is always available for any help a member might need. Help with licensing or just answering questions about racing I am happy to try and help.
Barn and Farm visits are always welcome as well.

Although I have not yet invested with Run for Fun I have had numerous communications with them and watched what they are doing very carefully. The advice they gave me in one particular instance was right on even though it was not in their own interest. I intend to invest with them at some point in the future.
